Refrigerant in a FRIIA Chiller

The FRIIA line of chiller and chiller/ carbonators uses R290 refrigerant. Each chiller contains 45 grams of R290.

R290 is the alternative to R134A refrigerant and is now used by most beverage cooler manufacturers.

R290 is a high purity propane suitable for use in the refrigeration and air conditioning industry. R290 is propane, so it is flammable. You MUST observe caution and proper safety practices when servicing R290 refrigeration systems. Only service providers trained on procedures for handling R290 refrigerant gas can carry out repairs on the chillers charged with R290.
