This article covers the disassembly of a POUR'D Concentrate Pump for the purpose of manually cleaning the interior in the event of a very stubborn clog.
You will need:
1 x Torx size 20 driver
1 x Phillips driver
Step one: If possible, perform a cleaning cycle on the unit. When completed, remove the feed hose from product and BIB connectors (where used) and run another cleaning cycle, allowing air into the system. This removes retained liquid inside the pump.
Step two: remove the unit from service.
Step three: open the service lid.
Step four: disconnect the input and output lines from the pump.
Loosening the bulkhead fittings may ease this process.
Step five: remove the diaphragm assembly from the pump motor by removing 3 bolts (T20).
It is not always necessary to remove the entire pump from the unit, depending on the size of your tools.
Step six: with the diaphragm assembly out of the unit, remove the remaining bolts.
Step seven: separate the two halves of the assembly, and carefully clean them out with warm water.
The flaps over the output holes can be carefully removed for cleaning.
Depending on the nature of the clog, this may require extra attention. Particulate matter clogging the assembly may require careful work with a pick or other similar tool.
The pump body has intake and output holes which may become clogged with coffee particulate.
Step eight: once cleaned, re-assemble the pump components and return the unit to service. Be sure to check all John Guest fittings for proper seal to avoid internal leaks.
